When you make the big move from NYC to Miami, one of the most important things to think about is your style. How can you maintain your minimalist aesthetic in a city that's known for its flashy fashion? Don't worry - we've got you covered. In this blog post, we'll give you some tips on how to transition your style and still feel like yourself. After reading, you'll be ready to take on Miami in no time!
So, you moved to Miami for a better quality of life. To finally have that work/life balance. But one thing that's not changing is your style: black on black on more black, with a hint of grey every now and then, if you're feeling adventurous.
The only problem? It's as hot as hell down here! What are you going to wear?? Well don't worry, because we've got some great tips for transitioning from your northern minimalist style into the Miami heat without sacrificing your aesthetic! Just follow these simple steps:
STEP ONE: To start off your transition wardrobe, think about what colors will be best to wear in Miami. While black is always a classic go-to color, it can get a little heavy during the hotter months. A great way to lighten up your look while still staying within your comfort zone is by pairing your black staples with lighter (cooler) colors. This could be anything from whites and creams, to pinks and blues. Also, fun patterns like polka dots, stripes and animal prints add a bit of flair while quietly ingratiating you into your new culture. Starting off with blouses is always the safest bet, then work your way up to skirts, shorts, jackets, etc. When you're feeling really adventurous, why not try incorporating some neon or camouflage into your outfits? It doesn't make any sense whatsoever to get rid of your entire wardrobe. Not to mention how expensive your pieces were to begin with. This small shift in pairing will help keep you cool and stylish at the same time, while still incorporating your favorite items from up North!
STEP TWO: Don't forget about accessories! Minimalist necklaces, earrings, bracelets and more still do extremely well in this climate. A big sun hat (I know...sounds like we've officially gone too far) or a colorful scarf can brighten up any outfit and make it perfect for the Miami scene. Shoes are easy here. Low top sneakers for a casual look and a pair of white leather sandals or nude wedges for when you want to step it up a notch. The style in Miami is much more laid back than in New York City, but there are still some key aspects that make all the difference.
